What does the Future hold?

From this new way of thinking about light, colour and texture. I had channeled my thoughts into a single question relating to the theme of my environment.

What does the Future hold?

and ironically enough there is no real answer, but there are possibilities. What do we perceive the future to hold as human beings? Will it be a world of artificial intelligence, scientific revelations and technological control? or will it revert back to a simpler life? With these thoughts in mind there are many possible answers to my question none in which are right nor wrong, especially good or bad. It is with that, I discovered how much this question relates to my overall initial subject matter. Light. From the start, I wanted to make an environment that conveyed both negative and positive lighting examples. With this question, with these possibilities, I can connect how we as people look towards the future in both good and bad ways, which so ironically links itself to my lighting subject! So my negative lights can reflect the bad things we see in the future, to the positive lights reflecting the good.

I have decided to look at how I see the future both negatively and positively, then list them accordingly. Doing this will broaden the perspective of my question and use the possibilities to help me light my environment effectively, combining light, colour and texture as equals.

                    Good                                      Bad

. Medical: With the evolution of science                        . Change in the environment (global

etc. No more money for fundings.

. Technology: Also Sciences and study can                . Technology gone too far, man vs

. Environment: Science and technological                  . New machines, more Earth destroyed

. Politics:  World peace reached, charities not            . WW3? increased disagreements, no

employment rates, better pay and more                     at it's worst. Debt, no jobs or money to
student opportunities.                                                  educate in schools properly.

These are just some examples that came into my mind when I thought of the future as a good or bad place. It is actually interesting to sit and think what could the future hold? and with no physical way to know, the imagination can really run wild. It's also interesting to see how it can easily jump between good or bad, something could turn out to be better or worse. There really is no way to know.

After making these examples, I have decided to look at some examples that use the concept of 'the future' and how they use it to represent positive or negative emotions. Also I will look at their visual styles and how they use colour, light and texture to express their perception of a futuristic world.
